Samsung HE — Heating Error
What This Code Means
The dryer is not generating heat — the control board expected a temperature rise that did not occur within the allotted time. Clothes will tumble but remain damp.
Common Causes
- Blown thermal fuse (most common — caused by overheating from a blocked duct)
- Failed heating element (electric models)
- Failed gas igniter or flame sensor (gas models)
- Failed high-limit thermostat
DIY Steps to Try First
- Verify the dryer is on a dedicated 240V circuit (electric) or that the gas supply valve is open (gas).
- Check that the lint filter and duct are clear — a blown thermal fuse is almost always caused by previous overheating from duct blockage.
- A thermal fuse test requires a multimeter and is a straightforward continuity test — if you're comfortable with basic electrical testing, the fuse is usually accessible near the exhaust duct port inside the dryer cabinet.
