KitchenAid F8E4 — Diverter Motor Error
What This Code Means
The diverter disk motor, which directs water between the lower spray arm and the upper/middle spray arms in sequence, has stalled or failed to reach its target position.
Common Causes
- Foreign object (broken glass, food bone) lodged in the diverter disk
- Failed diverter motor
- Diverter position sensor failure
DIY Steps to Try First
- Remove both racks and inspect the bottom of the tub for broken glass or hard debris — this is the most common cause.
- Remove the lower spray arm and clean around the diverter disk area.
- Run a reset: power off at the breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power and run a normal cycle.
