Bosch Dishwasher E15 — Water in Base / Leak Protection

The dishwasher will not start and the drain pump hums continuously.

What does Bosch E15 mean?

The AquaStop flood protection sensor detected water in the base pan of the dishwasher. This triggers a drain pump that runs continuously and locks out normal operation.

What causes Bosch E15?

  • Door gasket leaking — water dripped into the base during a cycle
  • Spray arm cracked or loose, directing water toward the base
  • Internal hose connection loose
  • Detergent overfoaming (wrong detergent or too much)

How to fix Bosch E15 yourself

  1. 1 Tilt the dishwasher forward at a 45-degree angle to allow any pooled water to drain through the base drain hole — some water is normal. Do this carefully with the power off.
  2. 2 After tilting, leave it tilted for a few minutes, then return upright and plug in. If E15 clears, run a test cycle and watch for the source of the leak.
  3. 3 Check the door gasket for cracks or debris preventing a good seal.
  4. 4 Verify you are using dishwasher-specific detergent (not liquid hand soap — this creates excessive foam).
