Bosch E15 — Water in Base / Flood Protection Activated
What This Code Means
The AquaStop flood protection sensor detected water in the base pan of the dishwasher. This triggers a drain pump that runs continuously and locks out normal operation.
Common Causes
- Door gasket leaking — water dripped into the base during a cycle
- Spray arm cracked or loose, directing water toward the base
- Internal hose connection loose
- Detergent overfoaming (wrong detergent or too much)
DIY Steps to Try First
- Tilt the dishwasher forward at a 45-degree angle to allow any pooled water to drain through the base drain hole — some water is normal. Do this carefully with the power off.
- After tilting, leave it tilted for a few minutes, then return upright and plug in. If E15 clears, run a test cycle and watch for the source of the leak.
- Check the door gasket for cracks or debris preventing a good seal.
- Verify you are using dishwasher-specific detergent (not liquid hand soap — this creates excessive foam).
