F3 Pro Recommended GE Oven F3 — Open Temperature Sensor Circuit
The oven refuses to start heating and the fault appears as soon as you set a temperature.
What does GE F3 mean?
The temperature sensor (RTD probe) circuit is open — the control board cannot read the oven temperature. Without temperature feedback, the oven will refuse to bake or broil.
What causes GE F3?
- Broken or burned temperature sensor probe wire
- Sensor connector loose at the control board
- Failed temperature sensor (open resistance — measure with multimeter: should be ~1100 ohms at room temp)
How to fix GE F3 yourself
- 1 Power off at the breaker.
- 2 Access the sensor probe (inside the oven back wall, typically two screws). Inspect the wiring for visible burn damage.
- 3 With a multimeter in resistance mode, test the sensor across its two terminals — a reading of approximately 1050-1100 ohms at room temperature indicates a good sensor. Infinite resistance (OL) means the sensor is open/failed.
- 4 If the sensor tests bad, the part is typically $20-$50 and replacement is DIY-feasible.
